Katori Walker – Playwright, Poet, Artist & Educator
Her work centers on storytelling, healing, identity, community, and creative empowerment. Based in Yonkers, her creative practice spans spoken word, visual art, murals, children’s books, music, and theater. In 2026, Katori was honored by the City of Yonkers as a recipient of the Women of Distinction Award. She has written and performed original stage work, including AJUMA: A Journey U Make Alone, and is currently developing new creative work for the stage.

Memorial Service for Holden Dante Melo-Contreras
Holden Dante Melo-Contreras was a New York-based spoken-word poet, performer, educator, and mentor whose work was rooted in the power of voice, story, and community. A presence in the Westchester and New York City poetry scene, he performed at venues and events including the Nuyorican Poets Café, Blue Door Gallery in Yonkers, Urban Word NYC, Brave New Voices, and New York City Center. He was also in the 15th Annual Urban Word NYC Teen Poetry Slam Grand Slam Finals. He was also a teacher whose impact extended beyond the stage and into the lives of his students, colleagues, and fellow artists. Holden is remembered for the creativity, compassion, and presence he brought to both his poetry and his classroom.
