Waterfront views and Ella Fitzgerald’s childhood home – now Yonkers has public poetry! A poet laureate is Jazzin’ Up The Trail with walkers and bikers on the Old Croton Aqueduct trail. No other state park shows off poetry. But Yonkers first Poet Laureate, Golda Solomon, was enthused. “I want to see ALL of Yonkers shine and appreciate poetry the way I do!”

On February 16 2022, Wednesday at 1:00, Mayor Spano announced that Golda Solomon, Poet-In-Residence and Board member of the Blue Door Art Center has been awarded Poet Laureate of the City of Yonkers. The ceremony took place in front of City Hall steps near the Unity Fountain.
